Word to Worship

For over eight hundred years the church has used colors to mark and enhance the seasons and feasts of the church year. These liturgical colors—traditionally used for church vestments, though now just at home on projections screens—help set the tone and give context for each service. Word to Worship too now displays all the liturgical colors for services on all lectionaries. As always, refer to your church leadership for specifics for your church, as traditions vary. If you spot any errors, please let me know.

Word to Worship is proud to support the lectionary of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA). This adds to our goal of helping worship planners realize more meaningful worship with songs that reinforce the Scripture lessons. As the 2019 edition of The Book of Common Prayer says,

The public reading of Scripture in the liturgies of the Church is among the most important features of any act of worship.

I'm also excited about the small feature of having liturgical colors for each service displayed on the left. That's something we plan to add to the other lectionaries soon.

You may have noticed advertisements on pages here on Word to Worship recently. Until now this project has brought in no income. With ads we hope to offset the various costs of time and money to keep it going. Using ads means now Google is involved and they use cookies for ad tracking. Our software also always uses cookies for registered users to know who you are so you don't have to log in each time you visit the site.

To comply with regulations (GDPR etc.) we also clarified how we use your name and email address, and that you can remove your account at any time and how to request removal of your information.

Search results for scripture references now include a summary of the tags that are related to those versus. This can be helpful to refine your search or give you inspiration for other songs or ideas for further searches. For each tag the number of verses that related to that tag is shown in parenthesis.
